This is an automated line with recorded information, however, you can also speak to a representative between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on week days. If those times are inconvenient for you, a recording is available and you may find the answer to your question without speaking to anyone. You can no longer call your local office for an appointment. When to Apply for benefits If you have determined that you do want to apply for Social Security Early Retirement benefits at age 62: You should apply three months before age 62, if you intend to start benefits at 62.
