Dealing with Lyme Disease in Retirement

by PATRICIA NEWTON
(NEW CASTLE, DE)

I have been two years into retirement, enjoying it fully, when almost three weeks ago I was struck with an acute 24/7 pain in my left upper back and left chest area, with a feeling like bees were stinging me on my back.

Since my two doctors were completely stumped, I was admitted to the hospital for four days.

After many blood tests, X-Rays and scans, I was diagnosed with nerve Lyme disease. I have never been ill my entire life so this has taken me by surprise.

I am now back home and am on antibiotics and pain medication.

I'm searching for a Lyme disease support group in my area, but was wondering if anyone has had this disease and could comment on what to expect. My doctors have been very helpful, but I would like to hear from others who may have knowledge and experience with this disease.

THINKING OF YOU
by: Sharyn~~~CANADA

Dear Patricia,

How unfortunate for u at this stage of life to have such a terrible diagnosis! Just when it is time for you to have some fun & adventure in your LIFE.

My heart goes out to you - may God bless & keep you from Pain.

I know nothing about this illness, however, having been a nurse for many years l am familiar with many other illnesses. And to my surprise, it is amazing how ordinary people cope with what life has dealt them.

Just wanted to voice my support to you and wish you well in your search for answers. I hope you have family & loyal friends to help in your time of stress & emotional impact.

Your situation will get better, you will become stronger & you will enjoy the retirement you have always looked forward to at this time in your life.

Just another senior sending well wishes to you ~ again, may God bless...
