Retire to the Internet

Real Examples of Folks I Just Met!

If the concept of Retiring to the Internet sounds silly to you, read this first: Retire to the Internet.

If you'd like living PROOF of how you can retire to the internet, just view some of these websites.

Some are retired (except for the website fun) and others are working towards retirement in a few years... but they certainly don't intend to stop web building. That's the beauty of a web business... you can earn money, based on your knowledge, do-it-all-yourself or hire someone, and all from the comfort of your home!

I met all these folks in October 2008 at a SBI conference -- we networked on how we built our websites, listened to great speakers, and were inspired by each story we heard. I thought I'd share a few here with you....

Take the time, one by one, to explore each website -- just to see what YOU can do (yes, you can..... really!)

Kim Carroll from Landscape Solutions For You and Interior Decorating Ideas For You hosted this conference with her husband, Tom. They did a fantastic job! Yes, Kim is a workaholic with two websites, but I believe she'd tell you that she LOVES every moment she spends on them, just as I do (or should I say, WE ALL DO!)

Anna Carling from the Aha! Chi, Chinese medicine website, retired from her Chinese medicine practice years ago, but continues to educate folks on ancient Chinese methods. Anna and I connected at the conference and she gave me her book (autographed, of course!) Yes, Anna built this website herself, using the SBI Tools and Action Guide instructions.. pretty cool, huh? Visit the site to learn more about stress reduction, acupuncture and so much more from this fascinating woman!

Next comes Carl Hahn from the Digital Photography Technology website. Carl and I spoke at the conference, but he didn't reveal that he was a "part time dance host" for a cruise company. I found that bit of info on his About Us page. Geesh, Carl, who knew? Carl did tell me he has THREE monitors in front of him... two connected to one computer, and one computer to the side! He is a true web-preneur and digital photography fanatic!

Hub and Mary Kirkpatrick from the website Handyman Teacher, do a fantastic job of videos for many do-it-yourself jobs at home. Hub told conference attendees it was his turn to give back, and he certainly is doing just that. Bookmark this site for your future projects!

Albert Lagesse lives in Florida, but writes his topic, which is Cape Cod. He visits there, takes photos like crazy, and goes home to record it all on the web. Beware, you might plan your own next vacation to Cape Cod!

Rick is a 25 year self-taught golfer who shares his Golf Club Revue online. Nice site for you Golfer Guys!

Tracie Irvine isn't technically "retired", far from it... but she is a new entrepreneur after her husband took a quick disability retirement. She needed an income, it was her turn to help the family, and boy, she did it BIG! As you can tell from a click of your mouse, Parrot and Conure World immediately shows you that Tracie is the bird expert here! Customer service is her specialty!

Finally, last but not least, Linda Robison writes oodles on Wrinkle Free Skin, something we all need to learn more about. Her husband, Walter, accompanied her to the conference, and he caught the SBI bug himself. He can retire in five years from Federal work, and is starting his website(s) now! He'll have them going great by the time he retires and the web income will supplement his Federal pension. I have to say... "the couple who webs together, stays together..." Grin!

That is my proof that you can retire to the internet...
