Retirement Income - Mechanical Turk

Interested in earning retirement income from Mechanical Turk?

Mechanical Turk is a system created by Amazon.com (the book sales company online). I use them to buy my books and you probably do too.

Mechanical Turk was inspired by the 1700's invention - a "computer" they called Mechanical Turk. It played Chess but the secret behind this invention was that inside a box there was a "small" man doing the actual Chess playing and he was Turkish, hence "Mechanical Turk".

Amazon.com brought back to life this concept and made it into a modern concept where thousands and thousands of people like you and me can do "small" jobs for pay.

Some jobs are for pennies, others for a few dollars, but look at the job and see how long it takes you. If the job requires you search the web for school addresses in a specific state, maybe it takes you 5-10 or even 30 seconds each. Maybe they pay $1 for a quick review of the type of laundry detergent you use.

These jobs are paid by the job itself not by the hour, so its up to you to figure out when it's worth your time.... but it sure can add up.

Steps to try these type jobs:

  • Step 1. Register with Mechanical Turk

Visit the Mechanical Turk website here.

You can register in two different ways, as a Requester (you want to request work done for you) or as a Worker (you want to work for someone else). You don't need to sign-up with different accounts for each one of them since they are interchangeable, you can request work done for you today, and you may want to earn a few buck tomorrow. So Register to be a Worker today!

  • Step 2. Register to get Paid

This is a critical step and you have to do it before you start doing anything at all at Amazon Turk. The reason why this is very important is because Mechanical Turk, better know as MTurk, pays you through Amazon.com payment portal. You need to get an account at Amazon payments, it is a free service and very easy to register for it, so go ahead and do that.

  • Step 3. Read and and View the Tutorials on how to use Mturk

You do this so you can understand how Mturk is organized and how it works. It's very easy but reading the materials provided will help you get a lot more from it. Another reason is just to avoid making mistakes and not getting paid for your work.

  • Step 4. Find Jobs at Mturk

At Mturk you will find the word "HIT" used everywhere, a HIT is a job. HIT means “Human Intelligence Task” (meaning a human actually does the work).

The more HITS a job has the better, depending on what you are looking for. If you find jobs with hundreds of hits and accept them, you can do one big job (finding 50 addresses, for example) versus one writing job.

Select a HIT that is easy for you to do and then keep finding and accepting the same type of HIT this will allow you to earn more money in a short period of time.

  • Step 5. Take your earnings and get paid

At the end of the week or month, total your earnings and request to get paid in cash or through an Amazon gift certificate. It's up to you.

Finally, have fun! Work all day or an hour here and there... and see what a little brain power and time earns you.

Pat yourself on the Back and Smile!
