RSVP Volunteer
(Retired Senior Volunteer Program)
with 20+ Years

by Elinor
(Keizer, OR)

I was Director of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for 6 1/2 years in the 1980s. The day after I retired I signed up as an RSVP volunteer.

Each program has several "stations" that recruit volunteers for a variety of tasks. In 1989 I won honors as the United Way Volunteer of the Year in Spokane, Washington, and rode in a classic car in the Lilac Festival Parade.

When I moved to Oregon I joined the RSVP here.

Now in my 80s, I do most of my volunteer work on my home computer, also volunteer for the Assisted Living facility where I live.

I report 80+ volunteer hours every month.
