Senior Volunteers at Meals On Wheels & More...

by Chuck P.
(Michigan)

Currently, I deliver meals to seniors once a week. There are eleven meals to deliver and it takes about one hour including drive time.

The only problem experienced is when the senior does not come to the door because they are not at home or are asleep.

I also help out at a food pantry by boxing up orders for those coming to the site. The problem comes when substitutes need to be made.

I also help out at the city park, raking leaves and pulling weeds.

Something for everyone to do
by: Edna in Connecticut

I also deliver Meals on Wheels once a week, which I really enjoy. I didn’t want to fall into the trap of a volunteer job not being fun by over-committing myself.

I had a forced retirement, so to say it is an adjustment is putting it mildly. I also knew that it wasn’t good for me to stay home too much.

But, there truly is something for everyone to do out there.
