I would like to correspond with friends from overseas as well as my home country. I've been retired quite a time now, but am involved with various volunteer activities, I swim and go walking with a couple of friends pretty often, as we imagine/hope it'll keep us that bit fitter.

I have been and continue to be a keen traveller mostly on independent trips and often to the States, a country I love to return to. I have become an enthusiastic writer of travel tales and other types of short stories, some of which have been published in the past.

I'm a member of a Writer's group here in my home town of York, which is hugely popular with tourists all year round.

The city retains most of its city walls still round which it's possible to walk. I like the cinema and TV documentaries, I enjoy days out with my car and a bar meal in a nice pub. We have some nice country here in Yorkshire and I'm only about 40 mins. drive from our east coast and the north sea.

I am a cat rescuer, not as bad as those in the TV animal hoarder shows however. I used to work for a vet, and people got in the habit of giving me their unwanted cats. All of mine are neutered and have their rabies shots, and are well-fed,which is quite a feat on my income. :)

I live near Longwood Gardens Kennett Sq Pa and my dream is to have a LG designer design my small backyard. One can dream, right!

I enjoy day trips especially if near water, the ocean, a river or even a pool. This morning it was an hour water exercise in the health club's outside pool. Ahh, the air was warm, and so was the water. Hope my hips and legs enjoyed the exercise :)

Fabric Art is a hobby of mine. As a member of the Philadelphia EGA, Embroiderer's Guild of America, I learn many fabric art skills. Didn't say I was an expert, just enjoy learning.

My 3 grown children live nearby and I enjoy my 5 grandchildren very much. Of course they all have their own lives but they do include me in events. I have been widowed for 5 years and want to restart my own exciting life in retirement.

I am a caucasian woman, who is very healthy and loves food. I used to have dish water blonde hair but now it's just grey.

I love animals, and I have quite a few exotic types and normal types. Right now I have a ferret named popcorn who is spoiled rotten and likes to eat everything. :) I used to have two racoons, who lived in the house, in a room of their own. I had a skunk as well, and I used to enjoy playing with my neighbors pet monkeys.

I have a good sense of humor and a lot to laugh about, i.e. my whole life, and my three children who are a joke in themselves.

I am living in a rehabilitational facility, where I get lots of help with maintaining my health. I have many friends here but I enjoying reading and writing, and receiving letters from friends.

Hello retirees, I am rather lonely at present as my husband passed away 3 months ago. We were both teachers he Maths science and I Art and History. I retired as a vice Principal in a secondary school.

My interests are Art related and I am currently painting in an abstract style using care in the design and colour. I enjoy home decorating and a minimalist approach to furnishing.

My favorite tv viewing includes gardening, renovation documentaries of history and general information. English comedy and humour.
All English programmes and home shows. I enjoy mysteries both reading and viewing.

I am a member of the Red Hat Society and Probus. I also am a member of my local Anglican church which is in the Evangelican tradition. When my husband was alive we traveled AUSTRALIA EXTENSIVELY IN OUR CARAVAN. I miss this.

Hello.

I am looking for a lady at least a decade older than me to help fulfill the void that my grandmothers left. I lost my maternal Grams on Christmas Day '08 & my paternal Grannie just this August 17th. I am the 1st born grandchild on both sides of the family & my whole life I have been blessed with their worldly advice & wisdom...and wit :)

I am from NE Ohio but have been in the Houston area since May- preferring to be east of Dallas and KNOWING my husband will want to retire in the Hill Country (north of Austin)... so I have somewhat of an anxiety/phobia of setting down 'roots' and becoming attached to someone local only to have to move away from them.

My husband is in the oil & gas industry & is gone on rotation a lot more than he is local so I am by myself as we do not have anyone local that I know but his one daughter who is almost 30.

I would love to hear stories of your life & era... to get your perspective of life and to have your experience & suggestions as I enter the VERY empty feeling of 'empty nest syndrome' and what to do. I even looked online for 'adult daycare' to have someone come & spend a few days a week with me to teach me canning skills and embroidery' and such things but they all tell me I am not the 'right material' haaa

Anyhow- I have 3 children (26, 23 & 19- the youngest two in Ohio), I am a Christian but respect others religions, or lack thereof... I have a fun sense of humor- my Grams was PRETTY witty (think MAXINE haaa).

My favorite movie actress is Hedy Lamarr & one of my favorite movie's, besides her in Sampson & Delilah, is another oldie, 'Rebekkah'... I am a patriotic American & although I believe in equality I am traditional that ladies need to take care of their own children, not put them in daycare- I was a single mother for many years & wish I could have taught my babies what *I* wanted them to learn & to know- not a stranger!

I have 3 Yorkie's, all under 8 pounds & although they have more proper names, I call them Mister French, Misses Beasely & MyLady May (Clementine)...as her sire's name was Winston and Clementine was Churchills' wife's name *big smile* I do not really have any hobbies but I am VERY interested in learning to do embroidery- ribbon embroidery, quilting, picture restoration & the sort...

I realize I am probably very young to be on this site but I do not know where else to look for kinship & a mentor and I do not mean to be disrespectful.
