Volunteer: child carer, also animals and the elderly.

(Aberdare, CF)

I am qualified in two fields, Child care with teaching, animal care, and office work, I was a secretary. So when my Mother passed away, I trotted along to the Labour Exchange (only kidding) job centre, and we all had a good laugh.

I was all of 51, the job centre then sent me off on many adventures, hospital work, even in the operating theatre, courses for helping immigrants settle in, now that was fun! a truly fascinating 8 weeks in a Charity Shop, sorting out antiques, I loved that. followed by another 2 months in a Technical School Library.

If I had a university degree they said I would have had a full time permanent job.

Then I started independently caring for some lovely kids one was disabled. A great 7 years. now I have moved house due to divorce, and still volunteer for a charity.

Cheers Dale.

Great Attitude
by: Your Name/Location

Dale, Congrats on your great attitude towards life after age 50; even though you have had devastating setbacks yourself. You could be a great role model for the many seniors on this website that basically have the exact opposite attitude. Your rolling with the punches that life is throwing at you, while many others have given up after that first punch is thrown at them. Good Luck!

Joe W.
