Anyone else want to live in a cottage community in New Hampshire?

In 2017, my husband and I sold our large home in NH. Since then we have been able to buy a park model with a linai and totally enjoy our winters in Florida.

We would like to live in a cottage community in NH but have found that the developers are only building large homes there.

So my question is this: Has anyone ever formulated a group of like-minded people to have such a community built?

We are considering this approach to see if it would be possible. We're not developers or realtors...we just want a community like place up north to enjoy the summer months.

Cottage Community in NH

I like the cottage community concept. Not from the North but am interested in cooler summer weather...especially during hurricane season in Florida.

I think it’d be interesting to explore this topic on this website. I have heard of communities that have common areas such as a wellness center, dining hall, garden and walking trails. I don’t really have anything to contribute but my interest. I like the northeast and support your question.

Have you considered an existing lake community?

Hello Martha,

In New York State where I summer, Bungalow Colonies were popular in the Catskills through the 1960's. Some of those colonies still exist.

I have a friend who used to summer in a lake community on Lake Winnepesaukee in New Hampshire and stayed in the same cottage year-after-year.

I would contact a local REALTOR® in the area where you would like to summer. There might be an existing lake community or neighborhood of smaller homes with a cottage that will suit your needs.

Michael
