Just Do It!

My retired judge friend and I (ages 71 and 68 respectively) are heading out in couple of hours on an overnight road trip to Philadelphia to see THE EAGLES Hotel California concert tonight! It's definitely a bucket-list item to finally check off my shrinking list. You are never too old to rock!

OK Jim, here's my Eagles concert review!

First of all, it was wonderful to be a part of something big after two years of virtual isolation.

The Wells Fargo Center must have held about 15,000 fans of the greatest country-rock band of all time. I made a bet with my buddy that the concert wouldn't start before 8:15, but I lost.

Right at 8PM an actor dressed sort of like the Grim Reaper walked slowly across the stage with a Hotel California album in his hand. At the other end he pulled the record out of the cover and laid it on a turntable, and just as the arm hit the record the band started the live intro.

They played Side One straight through, and at the end of Wasted Time a female dressed in a long, black, diaphanous gown strolled across the stage and turned the record over.

Then Side Two, every note played perfectly. It was mesmerizing! After the break the first song they played was Seven Bridges Road, and I truthfully have never heard more perfect harmony, anywhere, any time.

They played every Eagles song you would ever want to hear for two more hours! Henley's solo of Desperado with only a piano player on stage with him was absolutely haunting.

Even after four encores no one wanted it to be over. I have seen a lot of great concerts in my life, but nothing like this.

A memory for the ages!

Totally envy you guys. I saw the Eagles at the height of the album "Hotel California" at an outdoor concert in Winnipeg Manitoba. It was an unforgettable concert.

To see them do it again live will be fantastic. Joe Walsh is one of my all time favorite guitarists, hope you post a review of the concert here.
