Reasonably priced homes in Retirement Communities - NC or elsewhere

(New Hampshire)

We love the Over 55, Active Adult Community lifestyle having lived in one during the winter months in Florida.

Having family in NC (south of Raleigh) we were hoping to find a home in that area but have found a very limited amount of affordable communities for retirees.

We would love to be in a community that is active, has a space for gardening and just fun to live in. We’re not afraid to have a lawn and backyard to take care of but we haven’t found much in the $225,000 - $250,000 range.

My question is, are there any of you who are living in an Over 55 community that is active, houses have a little space between them and you totally love being in the community? Even if it is not in North Carolina we would love to know about it.

Thank you, Martha

Rental 55+ home

Birchwood 55+ Adult Community in Northborough, MA.
Single family homes Community Center.

Also, the town of Northborough also has a new Senior Center. It should be a model for all Senior Centers nationwide. It’s fabulous!

Birchwood 55+ Adult Community in Northborough, MA
does have rental homes from time-to-time, however,
they go very fast, so you have to be one of the first to see
it AND choose very quickly.

Those who buy, also must do the same. For Buyers, prices aren’t outrageous, but be prepared to offer asking price, or lose out—even if some renovations need to be made (most are move-in ready). The properties here are very well-kept. We are quite pleased with the Birchwood community, the town, the area, and the Senior Center.

Rental community

On that same note, also wondering if anyone is familiar with any rental 55 communities...I no longer want to own, want the freedom, but it seems that all the communities that I research are to purchase.
