Tallahassee, Florida is my retirement place

by Dot
(Tallahassee)

I'm a 71 year old women and my husband is 68.

When we both retired we decided we wanted to move and get out of our current state, Kentucky. Out children were both grown up and all had their own lives, so we figured it was about time for us to move on ourselves.

We wanted to retire in Florida because we had always loved the state. The people were friendly and the scenery was beautiful. Not to mention we wanted someplace to live where we would not have to put up with the cold of winter!

My husband and I currently live in the beautiful city of Tallahassee. We decided to retire in Tallahassee because this town in particular was our favorite of all the cities we've visited in Florida.

We moved into the beautiful Londontown Apartments. We didn't need anything fancy, so this apartment building was suitable for our needs.

Our neighbors are all very nice people, so the apartment building we live in is very relaxing. I do feel as if we are the oldest tenants here, but all the younger people living in the building are very kind and sweet, so we do feel at home.

When I first retired in Florida I didn't know what to do with myself. I was pretty bored and so was my husband. It took us a lot of time to get use to the retired life.

I began to knit and bake. My husband began to do crossword puzzles. I enjoy baking and these days I contribute a lot of baked goods to bake sales. The locals seem to enjoy that there is an elderly woman such as myself getting so involved in the community. I am glad they appreciate it.
I just enjoy helping out.

My husband and I also like to volunteer at the local animal shelters. I love animals so I feel it is another great way to give back to the community.
