Bored, Life Changes...

by Karen/Oak Ridge, TN

I retired at 52 with pension after 30 years. Wanted to spend it doing volunteer work at church. Did that, but not enough to keep me busy. Was offered part-time job at church and about went crazy.

Decided to move to TN to enjoy nature. Was great for 6 months and then my husband decided he wanted to go back to work. Thought I was going to die from loneliness and boredom, so I ended up getting a job. Actually loved it, but it fell apart 6 months later. Got another one and it fell apart 3 months later.

Filed for divorce and got a kayak. Been enjoying nature with my dog and now he's dying of cancer and it's too hot out. Divorced and trying to figure out what the heck I'm going to do with the rest of my life. Was thinking about buying an RV to travel around and live in.

Can't imagine how I'll handle problems that come up, but at least it might kill the boredom.

Can Be Overwhelming

Wow, you are dealing with a lot of change. It took me a long time to adjust to retirement, I'm still dealing with a lot of emotions.

I admire your spirit to keep on going no matter what. I'm sorry to hear about your dog. Also going through a divorce is devastating. I know how you feel about the boredom in retirement. I'm having bouts of that now with the Covid restrictions.

I miss my job even though it's been almost 2 years since I retired. I was doing an art class that was helping fill in the hours but now it's on hold. I like your idea about traveling. All the best to you.

53 years when retired, maybe camping

Slow down

Wow, Lady how about taking a deep breath?

You are doing the right thing by trying something different and learning, but maybe you need to take a deep breath and think about things first?

Everything is fine just be careful and enjoy your life.

You can rent an RV and try that out for a while and travel around. Go on You Tube and look at folks traveling.

Have a good time.
