Forward into the breach?

My husband is 9 years older than I am. He was laid off in 2001 and never really went back to work full time. He is a creative guy with more hobbies than a cat has hair.

I have a great job that I love gives us a comfortable life. We bought our retirement home in a dry, cool climate and have put our efforts into making it our dream home.

I have saved and we are financially able to retire. But all I have know is work and I am afraid of calling it quits. I am an introvert, love to hike and read but these cannot fill a day.

I do not have a crystal ball. I know, or believe, I know that I will have to work hard to be happy and content when I leave the job.

Wendy: It's not easy to do nothing and be content with that lifestyle -- unless you are the type who can't wait to retire and has options to keep busy. Yes, you might have to work on it, just like retirees before you.

I love working online (from home). I can work all day, or skip a week, totally flexible. I can choose one of many hats to wear each day, depending on my mood and which task I choose to do. I'm also an introvert like you so this tye of work makes perfect logic to me! Maybe you'd also enjoy blogging and running a business website -- for fun and income!

You'll find lots of support

on this website. I've been retired 2 1/2 years. I floundered the first 1 1/2 years, then I found this website and lots of people who had been there done that.

I am an introvert too, so I've finally realized that retirement is just the place for me.

I still grieve the workplace, but know in my head that at this point in life I don't have the stamina to work anymore. Take care.
