Grandparents moving half way across the county

by Laura nevada

I feel that its true people need to do what will make them happy overall, it is their life.

Our situation, grandparents moving a good 2-3 drive away. They have played a big part on our children's lives and it's upsetting to see them move away. But I need to inerrant this is what they want to do is their life.

But I think its important for them to understand that them moving will leave hard feelings. And because of this the relationship may be awhile to mend.

Honest truth we won't be able to visit every year. Its a long ways away.

The bond they have with the grand children will Absolutely change, that's just the reality.

There move was quite sudden and I don't really know where this came from.

I'm being as supportive as I can be but its a 2 way street.

They moved - they're not dead!

Laura - The grandparents have moved. They are not dead. Good for them. They are adults living their lives. Why are you focused on the negative?

What if the situation were reversed, and you had to move with your kids for a job? What happens when the kids go off to college and then start their own lives?

We don't end relationships because our life situation changes. Yes, the grandparents have moved.

You get over your feelings of loss and resentment by taking steps to make sure that your children don't lose a cherished bond with their grandparents. Facetime, phone calls, cards and letters. And, when possible, you do what you can to have in-person visits.

It might take some extra effort on your part.
I think it will be worth it.

You're Right

Without knowing why they chose to move, it's sort of hard to comment about that.

However, we have 13 grandchildren from our 3 children. The oldest is 28 and the youngest is 8.

Because of where we live in relation to where all but three of them live now-we only see 3 of them on a regular basis. That's life. We love them all but the ones we see all the time we feel a closer bond to-right or wrong.

Hopefully, things will work out for everyone down the road.
