Husband is driving me bat shit crazy

My husband just got laid off a couple of months ago and decided he was going to retire.

He always wanted to go to Texas when he retired, so we drove 12 hours, found a place we both loved, now we r moving across the country.

I still work full time, come home and he's on facebook, tiktok, etc.

I stay up until wee hours packing and cleaning etc. Our house just sold.

I feel like I'm alone, he acts like he doesn't know how to do anything. He's driving me crazier than I am, I have to explain to him how to do anything, and he's lost without me!

I totally get it. But, unlike you I stopped working when my husband retired 4 years ago.

I ended-up in therapy because he was clinging to me. Apparently, men suffer a loss of identity when they're retired. And they gravitate towards their wives because she's "safe". And that's what it sounds like is happening to you.

After four years, my husband has finally started volunteering, and it's been wonderful for me.

If I were in your shoes, I would give him list of tasks. If he still just sits around, then he's depressed and needs a professional.

He is expecting you to be his mommy. Don’t buy into it. Sit him down and explain the facts of life. You shouldn’t have to do it all!
