I Retired to New Zealand

by Lon
(Fresno, Ca. USA)

After the death of my first wife in 1989 I remarried in 1991 and retired in 1992. My bride was originally from New Zealand but was divorced and lived in California.

She sold her home and I sold mine and off we went to New Zealand to meet her family and friends. She had a married daughter living with grand parents while attending the University of Canterbury.

The monetary exchange rate between the American dollar and the NZ dollar was so favorable to my U.S. income that it made living in NZ very inexpensive.

NZ is a beautiful country with warm generous people that also speak English. We owned two different homes during the 26 years that we spent living in New Zealand and the U.S. for six month each.
