Retired last week and have no energy

by Ruth in Dallas, TX

I was so glad to see this site of postings because I retired last week after working 39 years and I am so exhausted.

Despite sleeping at night and taking naps, I am just completely exhausted.

I had a high stress job where I was working 24/7 as a teacher. I don't miss the job but I think I was living on pure adrenaline for the past several years.

I am 63 years old.

Not sure how long this will last?

Give yourself a break

You worked all those years. Let yourself rest up now. There is lots of time for fun. Just rest up first.

Practices to Increase Energy

I too was a teacher. I was an elementary school teacher which requires you to be ON at all times. After the day ends, many teachers are still wired thinking about what they have to do.

I like The art of living breathing meditation and flowing Zen qi gong. Both are restorative and grounding.

There are so many opportunities ahead of you!

Enjoy Retirement
by: Wendy, Retirement Enthusiast/Coach

Allow yourself time to destress, allow your mind and body to rethink life, and choose "what's next".

Let yourself heal.

No need to start doing already, you've got plenty of time, just rest right now.

When you are ready, you will begin to seek new ways to find purpose and keep busy in retired life.

For now, enjoy!
