Social Security Reduced at 62 ?

by Herman
(Wisconsin)

If I retire at 55 after 30 years of work, and don't work again -- and start collecting social security at 62, will my social security benefit be reduced?

Wendy Yes, for several reasons:

l) you worked 30 years, not 35 used in the calculation

2) age 62 is considered an early retirement, not full Social Security age

There is so much more you should know before you stop working.. read about the Social Security Application rules here.
