Retired: moving from pa to another state

I would like to know if I move into another state. Can I get my benefits from the same state I moved from?

Wendy: Of course.. they can't deny your benefit because you choose to move. I do assume you mean a pension that you worked for and earned? A state pension will move with you, a state medicaid or something like that will not.

However, check out state taxes. I remember a retiree who moved from Michigan to Arizona -- and got hit with a hefty tax there. He was so surprised as he thought he had his bases covered. Whoops!

Retirement Living has a map.. click on the state you might move to and read about retirement taxes there.

Best Wishes!!
